Specification :
To further enhance the essential values of the GR series, the GR IV has been equipped with a number of newly developed key components, including the lens, image sensor and image processing processor.
It features a newly developed APS-C image sensor and a newly designed lens to improve image quality while reducing the body size – a concept of the GR series that was already implemented in the previous model, the RICOH GR III.
The new model, the GR IV HDF, inherits the basic advantages of the base model, such as exceptional image quality, responsiveness and mobility, and also features RICOH's HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter), which allows users to instantly and easily capture soft, gentle images with diffused highlights in addition to the clear, sharply focused images for which the base model is known.
This creative versatility expands the boundaries of visual expression in snapshot photography.
HDF makes the difference
HDF filter, A new visual signature
Exclusive to the GR IV HDF, the Highlight Diffusion Filter (HDF) instantly transforms the look of your images. By softening highlights and creating a delicate, cinematic look, this filter offers an expressive alternative to the traditional ultra-sharp look, which can be activated or deactivated with a simple press of the Fn button.
Ricoh's proprietary inkjet printing technology (multi-drop technology) made it possible to integrate the into the the shutter unit.
There are 2 effects as follows:
A: The white in the highlight area is more diffused to emphasize the light source
B: Reduce the contrast of the entire image (sharpness effect is about -2 to -3)
Emphasizing light creates a softer depiction, enabling emotional photographic expression reminiscent of film photography or cinema.
It is well-suited for constructing narratives, making it ideal for photography that tells a story through multiple images rather than relying on a single eye-catching, impactful shot.
Flashy filters have limited uses and quickly get bored; this filter effect is adjusted for long-term use across various everyday scenes.
Main Key features of the RICOH GR IV HDF
High-visibility LCD screen, Total control
The high-resolution 3-inch LCD screen offers excellent readability, even in bright sunlight, thanks to its air gap-free construction and automatic brightness adjustment. It allows you to frame, view, and adjust your images with precision, whatever the shooting conditions.
Smart connectivity, Simplified workflow
With dual Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi connectivity and the new GR WORLD app, the GR IV HDF integrates seamlessly into your workflow. Transfer your images instantly, shoot remotely, and manage your shots directly from your smartphone.
New-generation APS-C sensor, Rich, natural images
The RICOH GR IV HDF is equipped with a newly developed back-illuminated APS-C sensor with approximately 25.7 megapixels, offering exceptional detail, color, and nuance reproduction. Combined with advanced noise management, it guarantees remarkable image quality, even in low light, while maintaining the natural rendering that is emblematic of the GR series.
GR ENGINE 7 processor, Power and responsiveness
The new GR ENGINE 7 processor ensures fast and accurate image processing, enabling subtle gradations, a wide dynamic range, and excellent high-sensitivity performance. This power also translates into increased responsiveness, ideal for capturing the decisive moment without compromise.
GR 18.3 mm F2.8 Lens, Precision from Center to Edge
The newly designed GR lens combines a 28 mm equivalent focal length with an F2.8 aperture, offering the perfect balance between versatility and creativity. Its advanced optical construction, consisting of 7 elements in 5 groups, ensures exceptional sharpness across the entire image, while effectively reducing distortion and chromatic aberrations.
New Electronic Shutter Function
GRIV HDF uses an electronic shutter for the faster shutter release.
This allows you to use the shutter speed up to 1/16000s while keeping the aperture wide open
It can shoot with appropriate exposure even in bright environments such as sandy beaches in the middle of summer, and HDF can also be used in the same environment to expand the opportunity for shooting
New function can be selected in the Shooting Settings
Electronic Shutter:
At F2.8: 1/3200 sec - 1/16000 sec
At 5.6-F16: 1/5000 sec - 1/16000 sec
*This feature will also be added to GR IV by firmware upgrade
